Bernard Eldon Johnson - March 22, 2003

A memorial service for Bernard Eldon Johnson, 80, of Minonk, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk. The Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. Inurnment of his cremains with military honors will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church. Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, is in charge of arrangements.

He died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday (March 22, 2003) at his residence.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or the donor's choice.

He was born July 24, 1922, in Benson, a son of Frank and Katie Buck Johnson. He married Louise Marshall on Dec. 15, 1945, in Minonk. She survives.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Cheryl) Johnson, Ozark, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy (Mike) LoPiccalo, Pontiac, and LuAnn (John) Vissering, Henry; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death a brother and a sister.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Minonk American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the 703rd Engineer Division in Italy and Africa.

He was a Meat Cutter most of his life having retired in 1984, and he was a partner in the former Chicago Butchers in Minonk.
